I have to admit to only being lukewarm to the ideas of wikis in education, at least in higher ed. Mainly because many students use Wikipedia and do not realize that there is no 'document control' and no peer review process to ensure the info is valid/credible. On the other hand, I think it would be great in industry, where co-workers who are brainstorming can build on each others thoughts and ideas. I look forward to hearing more about them and maybe ways we can use them in education, outside of Wikipedia!
Personally, I love wikis when I am just looking for a kind of brain dump on a topic. Of course, knowing the history of wiki's I use them simply as a jumping off point and actually find the related external links to be the most useful parts.
I think wikis could be an excellent lesson in education on what trusted sources are (or should be).
I will admit; however, that when one of our marketing leads at MBS recommended making our knowledgebase a wiki - my stomach turned at the thought!
